Booster Club Minutes for 3/20/2012
Meeting Attendees: Marie Ryan, Rick Buckner, Sara Yanoush, Kerstin Joos, Jim Mullaney, Susan Bryan, Reed and Paige Bender, and Coach McBrearty.
Banquet Update: Paige Bender updated everyone on the status of the Spring Banquet. The date is set for Friday, April 27th at Arbor Point Event Center. An Evite has been sent to all families, and your RSVP is expected. Paige is estimating that the net cost this year will be around $2,000. Senior pictures are scheduled for next Wednesday morning, March 28th, at regular swim practice time. These will be used for the senior gift, and the Staggs will offer group and individual pictures for sale to parents at the banquet. Coach will be presenting certificates to the swimmers and Marie Ryan volunteered to pick up the certificate paper for that. Kerstin Joos will have the award plaques updated when Coach gives her the list of award winners.
Coach’s Equipment Wish List: Coach would like to have fins and paddles for all swimmers next year. For 20 sets he estimates the cost at about $900. He is in contact with the district equipment people about how much the district will contribute. Meanwhile the booster club is making sure to reserve that amount in the bank balance for that purchase if necessary.
Financial Report: There was no written financial report handed out because there were no transactions during the past month, keeping us with a balance of just over $5,900. The expected balance after projected banquet expenses and keeping the money available for an equipment purchase is $3,000. The goal of the current board is to insure that the next board has at least $1000 to start the next school year free to use to cover early expenses. Considering this, a motion was made to raise the number of $500 scholarships to 4 this year as opposed to 2 in the previous years due to the largest number of seniors in the team’s history. The motion was passed.

Position still open – Spirit Coordinator/ Party Planner – to organize pasta parties, Christmas party, and coordinate the End of Year Banquet committee.
The new board will be voted on at the banquet and that will count as our April meeting.
Swim with the Tigers: This event is scheduled for the last week of March, and possibly a second week in April, when anyone interested in joining the team next year can join the team for morning practice. Coach is also planning recruiting events at both Hernandez and Hopewell Middle Schools with swimmers who wish to help.
Team Building Event: Most of the team seems to like the idea of the Mud Run on Saturday, May 19th.
The final Booster Club Meeting for the year will be Monday, May 14th or Tuesday, May 15 at 7pm in Rm B110. We will have the final internal financial audit and the old board will be available to the incoming board to exchange information and answer questions.
